 Main Environmental Characteristics:
- Established an ¨Environmental Management Work Group〃 to implement the environmental programmes and appointed the Administration Manager as the ¨Green Manager〃 to coordinate the environmental programmes;
- Established environmental policy and environmental guidelines for Engineering Department, Food and Beverage Department, etc so that staff can implement environmental measures according to the guidelines;
- Adopted heat recovery system to reuse waste heat;
- Adopted skylight design in the lobby to use natural daylight for electricity saving;
- Offered rebates for guests who bring their own meal box and recycle bag for take-away food from the restaurant;
- Encouraged guests to reduce using disposable articles and offered dining discounts to guests who have reduced the frequency of changing bed sheets and towels;
- Instructed contractors to use decoration materials with low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) content.
Continuous Improvement Items:
- The hotel has installed a heat pump system in October 2009 so that the diesel consumption of the boiler system is reduced. In addition, the operation of the new heat pump system can reduce the exhaust and thus reduce air pollution problems.
Some of the environmental measures accomplished:
- established an environmental team, which comprised department heads to steer and facilitate the implementation of an environmental programme.
- invited experts to provide internal training sessions to staff members to enhance environmental awareness.
- installed an automatic self-cleaning system for the maintenance and disinfection of cooling tower to prevent the dispersal of legionnaires' disease.
- installed an waste heat recovery system to recover the available heat from various processes as a source to supply hot water.
- installed a variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) drives for lifts.
- implemented variable air volume (VAV) system for the air handling unit (AHU).
- collected TV’s and electrical water heaters and donated them to charity.
- provided incentives to motivate green practices.
